Accommodation of Disabilities

  • The Toronto Melab Centre allows exam applicants with disabilities to request special accommodation in order to minimize the effect of the disability on test performance and to obtain the most accurate measure possible of the skill being tested. Individuals with disabilities are defined by the American Psychological Association as persons possessing a physical, mental, or developmental impairment that substantially limits one or more of their major life activities.

What Documentation Is Needed?

  • Documentation from a licensed or certified professional must be submitted with your application form. Qualified professionals include physicians, school psychologists, psychometricians, and psychiatrists. Documentation must
  1. clearly identify the disability (i.e., hearing impairment)
  2. include test results that demonstrate the extent of the disability (i.e., audiology report)
  3. provide recommendations as to how we can accommodate you (i.e., a quiet room, headphones, etc.)
